On April 25th, 2020, RUANN announced she would postpone the release of her new album.
”To my loved people who always support me
Trademark applications of my name ’RUANN’ were submitted in Japan and Korea without my consent. I was planning to release a new album in April, but after careful consideration, I decided to postpone it.
If the Patent Office allowed the trademark application, I will not be able to use the name RUANN. I can’t do anything because it’s a law.
However, it is also true that I have been filing an objection with the Patent Office to prevent the trademark application. I will do my best to the end.
I want to continue as an artist named RUANN. The fan name RUNNDY also comes from RUANN. There are too many memories that I made with everyone as RUANN. So I really want to protect the name RUANN. The name RUANN is as important to me as my life. It feels like being robbed the name given to me by my parents . I haven’t had a child yet, but I’m so painful and sad that my child is abducted.
I definitely wanted to release songs because it was a time when everyone was feeling so bad because of Covid-19.
I’m sorry for being like this.
I’m really really sorry if I couldn’t protect ’RUANN’.”

The artist name “RUANN”, which has been used by Ruan Ohyama from 2017 and is widely known among music industry and music fans, is applied for trademark in Japan and Korea without any consent of RUANN herself.

The trademark applicant is Bside, a company that promoted BEEP BEEP. According to the tweet on December 15, 2019, RUANN did not belong to Bside and did not sign any contract with them.
The media labeled “RUANN” such as the homepage (ruann.jp), Youtube (RUANNTV), Instagram (bside_beepbeep), VLIVE are operated by Bside without her consent.

17-year-old with multi-talented skills in singing, dancing, songwriting, composition, musical instrument performance (guitar, piano, etc.), language (English, Korean, Chinese, etc.)
Grew up under the influence of Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift. She has been featured in various media from childhood for her outstanding musical talent. At the age of 12, she was chosen to sing “TETOTE”; the theme song of Super Kabuki II “One Piece”, which was written by Yujin Kitagawa who is a member of the famous Japanese band Yuzu.
Immediately after graduating from elementary school, she went to New York, held buskings on the street and subway platform, and held her first solo concert at Prohibition. Since she is so-called generation Z, she has posted various artist covers on social media. Taka, the vocal of ONE OK ROCK was impressed to see the video, offered her to appear in their concert, and she sang their and her songs with an acoustic guitar.
Released “Spice 13 Acoustic EP” on June 2017. She was 13 years old at that time. All 4 songs were written and composed by herself. Released a EP “SCRAMBLE 14” on March 2018. Also all 5 songs were written and composed by her. Major debut from Toy’s Factory with the single “LOVE & HOPE” in September 2018. This song was provided as the TV commercial song of JOYSOUND and as the theme song of TV drama “Takane to Hana”. Later, the single “There’s No Ending” was provided as the theme song of a movie “ANEMONE / Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution” and the single “READY TO GO” as the TV commercial song of Cygames Inc. again.
Ended contract with Toy’s Factory at the end of March 2019, and started working as a soloist in order to achieve her goal of global success. Started her new journey in the world when she released simultaneously in Japan and Korea with the single “BEEP BEEP” in July 2019.
December 2019, she announced the end of the promotion with Korean company Bside.
She is a 17-year-old young artist who is expected to have a world-wide break through, and at the same time she pioneered a path that no one has ever taken. She aims as high as Grammy Awards. Fans who sympathize with and support her “attitude and effort to be the best at what she likes” and “will and determination to make dreams come true” are spreading globally.
